I hate bathing suit shopping..
I just ordered a new bathing suit online and its not returnable……
I really hope I like it, because my mom will be pissed. I probably shouldn’t have ordered it…but on the other hand, I may just love it.
blahhh, bathing suits suck.
I am getting so behind on my reading.
Reading On The Road by Jack Kerouac is taking much longer than planned. I’m reading the original scroll, which has never been edited, so there are absolutely no chapters or paragraphs. The book was written entirely in less than a month, and it’s all true. It’s crazy, wild, and strange, but somehow liberating.
“They have worries, they’re counting the miles, they’re thinking about where to sleep tonight, how much money for gas, the weather, how they’ll get there - and all the time they’ll get there anyway, you see."
— Jack Kerouac (On the Road: The Original Scroll)
I’m going to the lake Friday, and I think it would be best to just leave my laptop at home, and bring a bag of books instead. I’m 6 books behind on my 50 book reading challenge. Time to get cracking!
My name is Maryanne and I…
hate spiders, lady bugs, any kind of bug, plan changes, lies, being lonely, feeling insecure, trying on clothes, jeans, spicy food, allergies, humidity, fake people, fake tanning, bug bites, unpacking, doing the dishes, worrying, fights with friends, rude people, sweating…
but I love dresses, Anthropologie, books, reading, skiing, mountains, libraries, shopping, macbooks, pictures, my friends, my family, my dogs, Owen, babysitting, the smell of fresh laundry, rain while I’m sleeping, my bed, pillows, gerber daises, nail polish, painting my nails, rings, earrings, sandals, headbands, chocolate, hummus, cute pajamas, umbrellas, car air fresheners, make up, perfume, lilacs, spring days, the lake, lightening bugs, drawing with chalk, music, being organized, a good cry,…. I could go on forever.
Reading was a joy, a desperately needed escape — I didn’t read to learn, I was reading to read.
I’m glad you finished it! Maybe you weren’t happy when it ended because it was a sad book? I think that the second one, (A Thousand Splendid Suns) is a lot better, but I get what you mean about the writing, and the feeling you get when it ends.
I started reading Tuesdays with Morrie tonight.
I finished it in 3 hours.
It was definitely one of those books that makes you want to just sit there and think about it for a while in a I-want-to-change-the-whole-way-I-am-currently-living-my-life manner.
It also made me want to tell everyone to read it.
I am strong believer that good books are a result of you reading them at the right time, a time when their message is exactly what you needed.
Tuesdays With Morrie made me realize that my horrible attitude towards other drivers isn’t hurting them, it’s hurting me - I need to stop rushing around. That my desire to lay in bed all day is not relaxing, but rather a waste of life that should be lived. It taught me that my problems won’t be solved by losing a few more pounds or wearing a certain outfit. Morrie taught me that being scared of change is normal, but it shouldn’t control your life. He taught me that there is always time to fix things that are broken.
Here was one of my favorite parts:
“Yes I said, but if aging were so valuable, why do people always say, "oh, if I were young again.” You never hear people say, “ I wish I were sixty-five.”
“He smiled. "You know what that reflects? Unsatisfied lives. Unfulfilled lives. Lives that haven’t found meaning. Because if you’ve found meaning in your life, you don’t want to go back. You want to go forward. You want to see more, do more. You can’t wait until sixty-five. Listen. You should know something. All younger people should know something. If you’re always battling against getting older, you’re always going to be unhappy, because it will happen anyhow.”
“The fact is, you are going to die eventually.”
I’m officially a high school graduate! I will be heading to the beach in about an hour or so! I need a tan!

i just bought steven tylers memoir and something borrowed...what other recommendations do you have??
I totally understand! I would say, The Last Summer - Ann Brashares and Looking for Alaska - John Green! Both are perfect for the beach!
You can turn off the sun,but I’m still gonna shine.
There are dreamers, and there are realists in this world. You’d think the dreamers would find the dreamers, and the realists would find the realists, but more often than not, the opposite is true. You see, the dreamers need the realists to keep them from soaring too close to the sun, and the realists? Well, without the dreamers, they might not ever get off the ground.
